GERALD CLEMENT
Bret Clement 2009
Diploid, Dormant, Mid., 10", 48" Height, 3-4 Way Branching, 18 Budcount, UF.
[(Prague Spring x Memory Jordan) x Unknown]
GERALD CLEMENT is a pale yellow self with a green throat.
I can't say enough about this one. Suffice to say that you know it is good, since it is the one I chose to honor the memory of my father,
who passed away this past spring. Easily the best cultivar I have introduced to date and I believe it will prove to be one of the best unusual forms out there.
While the form always qualifies it as an unusual form, it is not always quite as quilled as the picture shows. Surprisingly for a bloom this size, it does set a few pods and
the pollen is fertile. I should see the first kids this coming season. GERALD is also a reasonably good increaser, being the first seedling from its seedling class to be introduced.
If it has a fault, it is that it is a bit slow to open fully in the morning and if you are like me, spending the first part of the day in the garden in bloom season before going to my real
job, you may want to give it a little nudge to open up.
